The Languedoc-Roussillon is a seemingly endless landscape formation. The wine-growing region in southern France begins in Nîmes in the east and ends at the Spanish border in the west. It is home to almost half of France's total vineyard area. The Mediterranean microclimate, the many hours of sunshine and the cooling oceanic influence nuance the richness of these wines. Terroir-accentuated wines from granite stone are complex and powerful. Vines rooted in deep slate plateaus beguile with spicy aromas in the glass. And the wines grown on limestone or sandy gravel are palatable, fruity and simply indispensable.
This wine comes from Aude, which is part of the southern French d'Oc area, where in ancient times they spoke Occitan and where Oc meant yes. In the midst of mercenary armies, Bayard remained absolutely disinterested, and to his contemporaries and his successors, he was, with his romantic heroism, piety, and magnanimity, the fearless and faultless knight (le chevalier sans peur et sans reproche). His gaiety and kindness even more frequently won him another name bestowed by his contemporaries, le bon chevalier.
The wines is a typical blend of Grenache, Carignan and Cinsaut. There are many excellent similar wines available from supermarkets and wine shops at probably better prices where you won't have to commit to buying a case.
Thank's for the info Pinotage. It is the Southern French Vin I've been looking for. My niece who is a vetinary nurse was given a bottle as a gift from a gratefull pet owner. I had a couple of glasses and really enjoyed it. Could you possibly recommend some wines that have the same light fruity taste. I don't really know anything about wine and have ended up buying wine that has been described as soft and fruity and it has been really dry.
In short, it was a fun event for all, nobody felt like they had been pressured or somehow swindled, and I think most of us even learned something. Definitely not what I am going to use to stock the cellar with, but seen simply as a way to get some friends together and be thoughtful about wine for 90 minutes, it was a fun way to start out a Saturday night.
Our bins hold 18-24 bottles of wine or Champagne or 2-3 cases of lager when filled with ice and water. Drinks will be chilled in 30-45 minutes and will be kept cold for several hours, especially if kept in the shade. We can also sell the ice to go in a chiller bin, or have it arrive separately - simply contact your local store after placing your order. 59ce067264
